DELUX STUDIO NATURAL
Volevamo proporre un progetto a Martinelli Luce
da presentare durante l’edizione Euroluce 2017.
L’idea era quella di disegnare un lampada sospesa
nel tempo in grado di essere inserita in qualsiasi
ambiente. In quel periodo dopo pranzo in studio
facevamo spesso delle lunghe partite a ping pong
prima di rientrare al lavoro. Il tennis da tavolo è
sempre stato uno scaccia pensieri e al tempo
stesso tra uno scambio e l’altro parlavamo dei vari
progetti in corso. L’argomento della lampada era
sempre più ricorrente finché un giorno mettendo
a fuoco le linee di una racchetta abbiamo iniziato
a ridisegnarla giocando con le proporzioni. Un
puro esercizio di stile che tratto dopo tratto ci ha
fatto apparire una silhouette che sempre più ci
convinceva. Un mix di richiami tra una racchetta
da ping pong e una lampadina classica. L’utilizzo
di materiali nobili come l’alluminio tornito e il
marmo è stata una scelta spontanea dettata dalla
geometria della lampada stessa. Per valorizzare
maggiormente l’aspetto pulito abbiamo deciso di
usare il vetro soffiato come diffusore. Da questa
scelta deriva anche il nome Delux, un richiamo
esplicito al valore dei materiali che delineano le
geometrie morbide di un prodotto pensato per
essere sospeso nel tempo.
We wanted to propose a project to Martinelli Luce
to present during the Euroluce 2017 edition. The
idea was to design a lamp suspended in time that
could be placed in any environment. At that time,
after lunch in the studio, we often played long
games of table tennis before going back to work.
Table tennis has always been a good way to get rid
of our thoughts, and between exchanges we talked
about various projects. We talked more and more
about the lamp until one day, focusing on the lines
of a racket, we started to redesign it by playing with
the proportions. A pure exercise in style that, line
by line, LED to the appearance of a silhouette that
was increasingly convincing. A mix of references
between a table tennis racket and a classic light
bulb. The use of noble materials such as turned
aluminium and marble was a spontaneous choice
dictated by the geometry of the lamp itself. To
further enhance the clean look we decided to use
blown glass as the diffuser. The name Delux also
derives from this choice, an explicit reference
to the value of the materials that outline the soft
geometries of a product designed to be suspended
in time.
