BOX ELIO MARTINELLI, 1974
Box è un contenitore componibile,
progettato nel 1974, che nasce dalla
ripetizione di un unico elemento piano
in acciaio stampato. Cinque elementi
formano un Box: è il modulo base.
Tanti Box formano… quasi tutto.
Con Box puoi fare una libreria, un
divisorio, un tavolo basso… quasi
tutto. Box non ha bisogno di appoggi,
è autosufficiente. Non ha necessità
di vivere accanto a una parete, può
stare in mezzo alla stanza, diventa
torre, isola, muro. E all’occorrenza
Box diventa piccolo piccolo: sette
metri quadrati di scaffalatura
occupano smontati… quasi nulla: il
volume di un Box.
Box is a modular container created by
the repetition of a single flat element
in pressed steel. Five elements form
a Box: this is the basic module. Many
boxes make up... almost everything.
With Box you can make a bookcase,
a divider, a low table... almost
anything. Box does not need support,
it is self-sufficient. It doesn’t need
to live next to a wall, it can stay in
the middle of the room, it becomes
a tower, an island, a wall. And if
necessary Box becomes small: when
disassembled they take up seven
square metres of shelving... almost
nothing: the volume of a Box.
