SERPENTE ELIO MARTINELLI
Il Serpente nella versione da tavolo e
da terra è una delle prima lampade
disegnate da Elio Martinelli ed è stata
presentata alla Fiera di Milano nel 1965.
Una lampada a luce diffusa, è forse
quella che meglio evidenzia e raccoglie
la filosofia progettuale di Martinelli
Luce che troviamo in tutta la collezione
presentata nel catalogo: le forme
geometriche, la natura, il movimento, la
sinuosità e la tecnologia. In particolare,
il Serpente ha visto l’impiego di un
innovativo sistema di stampaggio
del diffusore realizzato in materiale
plastico, il “Metacrilato opal bianco”.
Con questa tecnologia è stato possibile
realizzare sia l’incavo che accoglie il
tubolare in metallo, girevole, a simulare
un serpente che va poi ad avvolgere
la base conferendo dinamicità alla
lampada, sia il particolare sottosquadro
in corrispondenza del suo bordo libero,
che troveremo in seguito anche in altre
lampade, quale segno distintivo della
produzione Martinelli Luce degli anni ‘60.
The Serpente in the table and floor
version is one of the first lamps
designed by Elio Martinelli and it was
presented at the Milan Fair in 1965.
A lamp with diffused light, it is
perhaps the one that best highlights
and brings together Martinelli Luce’s
design philosophy that we find in
the entire collection presented in the
catalogue: geometric shapes, nature,
movement, sinuosity, technological
updating. In particular, the Serpente
saw the use of an innovative moulding
system for the diffuser made of
a plastic material, “white opal
methacrylate”. With this technology
it was possible to create both the
socket that houses the metal arm,
rotating and tubular, which simulates
the snake that descends to wrap
around the base, giving dynamism to
the lamp, and the particular undercut
at its free edge, which will later be
found in other lamps as a hallmark of
Martinelli Luce production in the ‘60s.
