Gae Aulenti dal 1956 esercita l’attività professionale a Milano occupandosi di progettazione
architettonica, urbanistica, interior e industrial design, scenografia teatrale. Nel 2005 fonda la
Gae Aulenti Architetti Associati.Dopo la realizzazione a Parigi del Museé d’Orsay ha curato
la ristrutturazione di Palazzo Grassi a Venezia. Tra i progetti più importanti: la riqualificazione
di piazzale Cadorna a Milano e le stazioni “Museo” e “Dante” della Metropolitana a Napoli.
Il nuovo Asian Art Museum di San Francisco è stato aperto nel 2003. Il Museo d’Arte
Catalana a Barcellona è stato completato nel 2004. È stato inaugurato nel 2005 l’Istituto
Italiano di Cultura a Tokio, il Palavela di Torino per i Giochi Olimpici e Piazza San Giovanni
a Gubbio. Nel 2008 è stata ultimata la Biblioteca e il Centro Culturale di Paderno Dugnano,
Milano, l’impianto di termovalorizzazione di Forlì e l’insieme della Città degli Studi di Biella:
campus universitario distaccato del Politecnico di Torino. Nel 2012 è stato inaugurato
Palazzo Branciforte a Palermo.
Sono in corso: il progetto dell’Aeroporto di Perugia, ora in costruzione, e l’Aeroporto di
Aosta; la ristrutturazione e il recupero di Palazzo Vetus ad Alessandria; la riqualificazione
del Complesso Sant’Agostino a Modena e la realizzazione di un intervento commerciale e
residenziale nell’area dell’ex zuccherificio a Foligno.
Fra i principali riconoscimenti, il titolo di Chevalier del la Legion d’Honneur (Parigi), Membro
Onorario dell’American Institute of Architects - Hon. FAIA, il titolo di Cavaliere di Gran Croce
della Repubblica Italiana, il Praemium Imperiale da The Japan Art Association (Tokyo), la
laurea ad honerem dalla Rhode Island School of Design, Providence (USA) e la Medaglia
d’Oro alla Carriera (Milano).
In 1956 Gae Aulenti started to practice her professional activity in Milan dealing with architec-
ture design, city planning, interior and industrial design, stage design. In 2005 she established
Gae Aulenti Architetti Associati.
After the fulfilment of the Musée d’Orsay in Paris, she was responsible for the restoration of
Palazzo Grassi in Venice. Among her most important projects: the requalification of Cadorna
square in Milan and the tube stations “Museo” and “Dante” for the underground in Naples.
The new Asian Art Museum in San Francisco was opened in 2003. The Museum of Catalan
Art in Barcelona was finished in 2004. In 2005 the Italian Institute of Culture in Tokyo was
opened as well as the Palavela in Turin for the Olympic Games and San Giovanni square
at Gubbio. In 2008 the Library and the Cultural Centre at Paderno Dugnano, Milano, were
accomplished as well as the Waste-to-Energy plant at Forlì and the buildings of the Città
degli Studi at Biella: the university campus detached from the Polytechnics in Turin. In 2012
Palazzo Branciforte was opened in Palermo.
The on-going ones: the project for the Perugia Airport, under construction, and the Aosta
Airport; the restoration and the renovation of Palazzo Vetus at Alessandria; the requalification
of the Sant’Agostino complex at Modena and the fulfilment of a commercial and residential
work in the area of the former sugar refinery at Foligno.
Among her main awards, the qualification of Chevalier de la Legion d’Honneur (Paris),
Honorary Member of the American Institute of Architects - Hon. FAIA, the qualification
of Knight Grand Cross of the Italian Republic, the Praemium Imperiale from The Japan
Art Association (Tokyo), the ad honorem degree at the Rhode Island School of Design,
Providence (USA)and the Italian Gold Medal for her Career (Milan).
En 1956, Gae Aulenti commence à pratiquer son activité professionnelle à Milan et s’occupe

décors théâtrales. En 2005 elle fonde la Gae Aulenti Architetti Associati.
Après avoir réalisé le Musée d’Orsay à Paris, elle a été responsable de la rénovation de
Palazzo Grassi à Venise. Parmi ses projets les plus importants : la requalification de la place
Cadorna à Milan et les stations “Museo” et “Dante” de la métropolitaine de Naples.
Le nouveau Asian Art Museum de San Francisco a été ouvert en 2003. Le Musée d’Art
Catalan de Barcelone a été terminé en 2004. En 2005 l’Institut Italien de Culture à Tokyo a été
inauguré aussi bien que Palavela de Turin pour les Jeux Olympiques et la place San Giovanni
à Gubbio. En 2008 la Bibliothèque et le Centre Culturel de Paderno Dugnano, Milano, ont
été achevés et l’usine de transformation des déchets en énergie de Forlì et l’ensemble de la
Città degli Studi à Biella: le campus universitaire séparé du Polytechnique de Turin. En 2012
le Palais Branciforte de Palerme a été inauguré.
Les projets en cours: le projet de l’Aéroport de Pérouse, en construction à présent, et l’Aéro-
port de Aoste; la rénovation et la récupération de Palazzo Vetus à Alessandria; la requalifica-
tion de l’Ensemble Sant’Agostino à Modène et la réalisation d’une intervention commerciale
et résidentielle dans la zone de l’ex sucrerie à Foligno.
Parmi ses prix principaux, le titre de Chevalier de la Légion d’Honneur (Paris), Membre
Honoraire de l’American Institute of Architects - Hon. FAIA, le titre de Chevalier Grand-Croix
de la République Italienne, le Praemium Imperiale de The Japan Art Association (Tokyo), le
diplôme ad honerem de la Rhode Island School of Design, Providence (USA) et la Médaille
d’Or pour la Carrière (Milan).
Seit 1956 ist Gae Aulenti als Freiberuflerin in Mailand im Bereich architektonischer Planung,
Stadtplanung, Innenraumdesign, Industrial Design und Bühnenbildnerei tätig. Im 2005 hat sie
die Gesellschaft „Gae Aulenti Architetti Associati“ gegründet.
Nach der Vollendung des Museé d’Orsay in Paris hat sie die Umstrukturierung von Palazzo
Grassi in Venedig besorgt. Ihre wichtigsten Projekte schließen die folgenden ein: die
Umstellung von Cadorna-Platz in Mailand und die “Museo” und “Dante” U-Bahn-Stationen
in Neapel.
Das neue Asian Art Museum von San Francisco wurde im Jahr 2003 eröffnet. Das Museum
Katalanischer Kunst in Barcelona wurde im Jahr 2004 vollendet. Im Lauf des Jahres 2005
wurden der Sitz des Italienischen Kultur-Instituts in Tokio, sowie das Palavela von Turin für
die Winterolympiade und San Giovanni Platz in Gubbio eröffnet. Im Jahr 2008 wurden die
Gemeindebibliothek und das Kulturzentrum von Paderno Dugnano in Mailand, sowie die
Anlage zur thermischen Restmüllverwertung für Haus- und Gewerbemüll in der Provinz von
Forlì und das Komplex der „Città degli Studi“ in Biella, Universitätsgelände mit verlegtem Sitz
des Polytechnikums von Turin, gestaltet. Im Jahr 2012 wurde Branciforte Palast in Palermo
eröffnet.
Die folgenden Projekte sind zur Zeit im Gange: der Projekt für das Flughafen in Perugia
und für das Flughafen von Aosta, die Umstrukturierung und die Umnutzung von Vetus
Palast in Alessandria, die Umstellung des Komplexes des Hl. Augustins in Modena und
die Umstrukturierung im Gebiet der ehemaligen Zuckerfabrik in Foligno, um Einkaufs- und
Wohnbereiche zu schaffen.
Unter den wichtigsten Anerkennungen kann man die folgenden erwähnen: “Chevalier de la
Legion d’Honneur” (Paris); Ehrenmitglied von American Institute of Architects - Hon. FAIA,
“Ordensritter Grosses Verdienstkreuzes” der Italienischen Republik, Praemium Imperiale für
Architektur von The Japan Art Association (Tokio), Doktor Honoris Causa der Rhode Island
School of Design, Providence (USA) und Goldene Ehrenmedaille (Mailand).
