La forma dell’applique scatolare e compatta Dud
nasce dalla ricerca di un segno grafico, immediato
e riconoscibile, ma al contempo discreto, in gra-
do di sapersi adattare a diversi contesti abitativi.
È composta da due corpi la cui sagoma richiama
i caratteri tipografici D e U – da qui il gioco delle
lettere nel nome – i quali ruotano autonomamente
su una base comune, che serve anche a fissare la
lampada alla parete e a nasconderne il trasforma-
tore. La luce che viene emessa può essere diretta
o indiretta, a seconda della posizione dei due cor-
pi, e asimmetrica: in uno dei due, infatti, la sorgen-
te è posizionata sul lato dritto, nell’altro invece sul
lato curvo. Questa doppia diffusione, insieme alla
possibilità di rotazione dei corpi, offre grande ver-
satilità permettendo configurazioni libere ed effetti
di luce differenti.

The shape of the Dud wall-mounted lamp is boxy
and compact, born from the search for a graph-
ic sign that is immediate and recognizable, yet
discreet, able to adapt to different living environ-
ments. It is composed of two bodies whose shape
references the typographic characters D and U –
hence the play on letters in the name – which ro-
tate independently on a common base. This base
also serves to fix the lamp to the wall and conceal
the transformer. The light emitted can be direct or
indirect, depending on the position of the two bod-
ies, and it is asymmetrical: in one of them, the light
source is placed on the straight side, while in the
other, it is positioned on the curved side. This dual
diffusion, combined with the possibility of rotating
the bodies, offers great versatility, allowing for free
configurations and different light effects.
