Funiculí - Lluís Porqueras, 1979 / 2012 / 2018
Funiculí is a new edition of a lamp
designed in 1979. Lluís Porqueras has
always sought an absolute simplicity in
his designs, doing away with everything
superfluous to leave the essence of the
useful, simple object. 30 years on, Funiculí
remains highly contemporary, both in its
purist forms and in its features.
The name Funiculí comes from the
concept of a “funicular” action – moving
up and down. The mechanism for raising
and lowering the lamp uses a pair of clips
which make it very easy to change the
height of the shade to meet the user’s
needs. The shade itself can be rotated
through 360º to point the beam of light
wherever it is required.
The base of Funiculí is covered in rubber
on the bottom, avoiding the cold contact
between the metal and the floor and adding
stability to the lamp.
Heir to the first Funiculí, this year we
present a new version with a fabric shade,
a design that Lluís Porqueras first conceived
in 1979 but that is only now seeing the light
of day. Respecting the initial design
to the fullest, only its proportions have
been updated. In this new version, the cloth
on the shade unlocks the light, allowing it
to filter through and better illuminate the
space. It shares the same structure as the
original, so you can easily adjust the lamp
to your desired height. The essence of
both lamps continues to be their simplicity,
but the new design is chic and classical,
perhaps even more sophisticated than the
original. This new category comes in floor,
table and wall versions and two colours,
sand or white, with a black structure.
Funiculí es una reedición de una lámpara
diseñada en 1979. Lluís Porqueras siempre
ha diseñado buscando una simplicidad
absoluta, eliminar lo superfluo hasta dejar
la esencia del objeto útil y sencillo. 30 años
después, Funiculí sigue siendo muy actual,
tanto en sus formas puristas como en
sus prestaciones.
El nombre de Funiculí viene del concepto
de acción funicular, de subir y bajar. Este
sencillo mecanismo de sube y baja se
consigue mediante una doble pinza que
permite cambiar la altura de la pantalla para
adaptarse a las necesidades del usuario.
La pantalla ofrece una rotación de 360º para
dirigir el haz de luz hacia donde convenga.
La base de la Funiculí tiene una goma que
recubre el contorno, evita el contacto frío
del metal con el suelo y añade estabilidad
a la lámpara.
Heredera de la primera Funiculí, este año
se presenta esta nueva versión con pantalla
textil, un diseño que Lluís Porqueras ya
proyectó en 1979 pero que hasta hoy no
ha visto la luz.
Respetando al máximo su diseño inicial,
sólo se han actualizado las proporciones.
El tejido de su pantalla desbloquea la luz
y permite que se filtre, aportando más
iluminación al espacio. Comparten también
la misma estructura para decidir la altura a la
que deseamos la luz. La esencia de ambas
luminarias sigue siendo la simplicidad, pero
el nuevo diseño es más aparente y clásico,
más sofisticado. Esta nueva colección
está disponible en las categorías de pie,
sobremesa y aplique, en dos colores arena
o blanco, y con la estructura siempre negra.
