Il premio, istituito nel 1954 da un’ idea di Gio Ponti, considerato
il più antico e prestigioso premio di disegno industriale al mondo, ha interessato
20 prodotti, onorando le aziende ed i designer di un titolo che entra nella storia
del disegno industriale, i prodotti insigniti con il Premio Compasso d'Oro, entrano
infatti a far parte di diritto della Collezione Compasso d’Oro ADI, dichiarata
il 22 aprile 2004 dal Ministero per i Beni e le Attività Culturali di “eccezionale
interesse artistico e storico".
The award, established in 1954 from an idea by Gio Ponti,
considered the oldest and most prestigious industrial design award
in the world, involved 20 products, honoring the companies and designers
with a title that enters the history of industrial design, the products awarded
with the Compasso d'Oro Award, in fact become part of the ADI Compasso
d'Oro Collection, declared on April 22, 2004 by the Ministry of Cultural
Heritage and Activities of "exceptional artistic and historical interest".
