Lo Yakisugi o Shou Sugi Ban è un'antica tecnica Giapponese di lavorazione del legno risalente al
1300. Data l'assenza di trattamenti evoluti, le tavole venivano sapientemente carbonizzate
al fine di fornire al legno più durabilità, aumentarne le doti di resistenza a muffe ed insetti, agli agenti
atmosferici e alle fiamme. In Lym vogliamo dargli un significato simbolico tutto nostro, legato alla nostra
storia, ai nostri successi ed insuccessi, ai cambiamenti ed al futuro; se vogliamo quasi un ossimoro,
bruciare per rendere eterno.
Yakisugi or Shou Sugi Ban is an ancient Japanese woodworking
technique dating back to 1300. Given the absence of advanced treatments,
the boards were expertly carbonized in order to provide the wood with more
durability and increase its resistance to mold and insects, atmospheric agents
and flames. In Lym we want to give it a symbolic meaning of our own, linked
to our history, our successes and failures, linked to our changes and to the
future; almost an oxymoron, burn to make eternal.
