EN “D” stands for ‘due’ (two); “O” is the
circular element, a disk; and “I” is the
linear element that encloses the light
source.
From the interaction and composition
of these two elements, the Doi system’s
circular and linear elements magnetically
draw strength and content from each
other.
Doi is composed of two elements:
the disk (fixed to the ceiling by a steel
cable) and the spotlight (an aluminium
extrusion powered by a fine electric
cable).
Two primary forms - a ring and a line -
find constant balance, perfect but inevitably
precarious.
The way they interact determines the
light’s aesthetics, position and functionality.
This relationship is the driving force of
the project and is created in two ways,
exploiting two different physical forces:
magnetism and gravity.
The spotlight and disk come in three
colour options: white, opaque black,
and satin brass.
The white version of the spotlight has
a ridged effect that runs through the
surface.
The feature of this system also lies in
the possibility of selecting a different
colour pairings for the spotlight and
disk - matching or contrasting.

che racchiude la sorgente luminosa.
Dall’interazione e composizione di
questi due elementi, nel sistema Doi
l’elemento circolare e quello lineare
traggono magneticamente forza e
contenuto uno dall’altro.
Doi è composta da due elementi:
il disco (fissato a soffitto da una fune
d’acciaio) e il faretto (un estruso di
alluminio alimentato da un sottile cavo
elettrico). Due forme primarie - un
cerchio e una linea - che trovano sempre
un equilibrio, perfetto ma inevitabilmente
precario.
Il modo in cui interagiscono ne determina
estetica, posizione e funzionalità.
Questo rapporto è il motore del progetto
e si realizza attraverso due modalità,
sfruttando due forze fisiche diverse:
magnetismo e gravità.
Il faretto e il disco sono disponibili in tre
varianti cromatiche: bianco, nero opaco
e ottone satinato.
Nel caso del faretto, la versione bianca
ha un effetto di zigrinatura che muove la
superficie.
La ricchezza del sistema è anche data
dalla possibilità di abbinare il faretto e il
disco secondo le cromie desiderate, ton
sur ton o a contrasto.
