The Karim Rashid carpets collection takes its inspiration from different application fields as
technology, architecture and design. These are the subjects in which Karim Rashid operates
from several years, giving them his world personal vision that created through time, the
nowadays well known company identity.
Patterns that come out from this collaboration were developed in many types.
Some of them figure out as contemporary digital visions that seem to dissolve on the carpet
border, losing their definite shape leaving the center, as an Escher drawing. Some of them
are closer to an architectural structure with a non-definite point of view, given by different
light points which result in particular wall shadows. Some others are linear, geometric
colorful shapes, that in certain carpets shaping the border in an irregular figure.
Karim Rashid follows his personal view also for colors selection: he creates his full-color
palette, with fluo and black&white accents, remaining consistent with the tones that
characterize his production, as several fuxia tones, fluo yellow/orange/green tones, deep
blue and red. Rashid also uses some soft pink, light blue, green, orange, and violet colors in
“fading” patterns; these tones over total black backgrounds come out in a strong colored
pattern, with a tridimensional effect.
This collection has been created only with natural and noble materials: New Zealand
wool and bamboo silk. New Zealand wool is a fine and smooth material well known for his
strength, flame retardant and insulating properties, offers the perfect solution suitable both
for private and public spaces. On the other hand bamboo silk is characterized by a soft-to-
touch, bright and delicate effect. The combination of these two precious and pure materials
result in a high quality and unique carpet.
