GECKELER MICHELS
geckeler michels is a design studio established in 2013 by David Geckeler and Frank
Michels, based in Berlin (HQ) and Luxembourg. It debuted with its first collection of
furniture and lighting in 2014 at the Salone Satellite in Milan. The German-Luxembourgish
design duo creates products for deSede, ewo, Fredericia, Karimoku, Muuto, Nespresso,
Nike, Sancal and Tecta amongst others. Areas of work include creative direction, furniture,
lighting, products and spaces. The studio’s approach is research-oriented, engaging in
autonomous in-house studies, creative direction, and product collections for clients. They
also produce limited editions and one-of-a-kind pieces.
geckeler michels explores product functionality around human habits, with a forecasting
eye on ever evolving usages and ways of expression. The duo articulates innovative positions,
deliberately embracing history of design, contemporary technologies and digital design
methods. Their functionalist approach often incorporates intriguing details or logics, infusing
the products with compelling narratives that stand the test of time. Their work has been
showcased in venues such as the Museum of Arts and Design in New York, Bauhaus Archiv
Berlin, Reform Design Biennale Copenhagen, and at the Awazu Residence in Kawasaki-
Kanagawa. The design duo has been honoured with accolades including Red Dot Award, Big
See Award, Muuto Talent Award, Becker Design Award, Newcomer Nominee for German
Design Award.

prodotti per marchi come deSede, ewo, Fredericia, Karimoku,
Muuto, Nespresso, Nike, Sancal e Tecta, tra gli altri. Le aree
di lavoro comprendono direzione creativa, arredamento, illumi-
nazione, prodotti e spazi. L’approccio dello studio è orientato
alla ricerca, con studi interni autonomi, direzione creativa e
collezioni di prodotti per i clienti. Producono anche edizioni
limitate e pezzi unici.
geckeler michels esplora la funzionalità dei prodotti in relazi-
one alle abitudini umane, con uno sguardo rivolto ai cambiamenti
costanti nell’uso e nelle modalità di espressione. I due designer

la storia del design, le tecnologie contemporanee e i metodi di

Il loro lavoro è stato esposto in luoghi come il Museum of Arts
