Las Escrituras relatan cómo hace más de dos mil años tres reyes
de Oriente, guiados por una estrella, viajaron a Belén para
adorar al niño Jesús y entregarle los preciados regalos del oro, el
incienso y la mirra.
Lladró recoge la tradición de la Epifanía en una escena que
reúne a los tres reyes magos creados por la marca en 1969 y nos
los presenta con una nueva y atractiva decoración.
La decoración de estas piezas está a la altura de la nobleza de
sus protagonistas, que galopan sobre una peana elaborada en
pan de oro. Las capas de los reyes son un reto a nivel técnico,
porque sus pliegues dificultan el pintado, siempre a mano, de los
preciosos motivos que las decoran. La combinación de vistosos
esmaltes, toques de lustre dorado, suaves degradados, nace de la
amplia paleta de colores Lladró, que despliega toda su fantasía
en estos iconos universales y atemporales que nos devuelven la
ilusión de la noche de reyes.
Todo en esta creación nos habla de un Lladró en continua
evolución, siempre incorporando nuevos diseños y técnicas
decorativas que enriquecen las piezas nacidas en el taller de
Alta Porcelana.
Pero si hay algo que permanece es la historia que nos cuentan
las piezas Lladró. La de estos reyes tiene un encanto especial,
porque las primeras versiones fueron el regalo que los hermanos
Juan, José y Vicente Lladró realizaron al Papa Pablo VI en su
visita al Vaticano en 1969. Poco después, el hombre pisaba la
luna por primera vez y el Pontícife entregó un rey a cada uno de
los astronautas del Apollo XI y les habló de aquella misión en la
que tres hombres fueron guiados por una estrella para llevar un
mensaje a toda la Humanidad.
The Scriptures tell how, more than two thousand years
ago, three wise men from the East were guided by a star to
Bethlehem in order to adore the Child Jesus and present
him with the precious gifts of gold, incense and myrrh.
Lladró returns to the tradition of the Epiphany in a scene
that brings together the three wise men which were first
depicted by the brand in 1969 and presents them in a new
and attractive decoration.
The decoration of these pieces is on a par with the nobility
of the characters depicted, shown riding their steeds on a
base covered in gold leaf. The cloaks worn by the three
wise men proved a true technical challenge, as painting the
beautiful patterns by hand required great skill and dexterity,
especially given the many pleats and folds. The combination
of bright and colorful enamels, touches of golden luster and
subtle degrades was made possible by the broad spectrum
of the Lladró palette of colors, used to such great effect in
these timeless universal icons that conjure up all the magic
and hope of Twelfth Night.
Everything in this creation speaks to us of Lladró’s ongoing
evolution, always adding new designs and decorative
techniques that further enrich the pieces created in its
High Porcelain workshop.
But if there is one thing that remains unaltered, that is the
stories told by Lladró. The story behind these particular
pieces is fascinating, because the Lladró brothers Juan, José
and Vicente presented the first versions of the three wise
men as a gift to Pope Paul VI when they visited the Vatican
in 1969. Soon afterwards, man stepped on the moon for the
first time and the Pope in turn gave the three wise man as
a gift to the three astronauts from Apollo XI and spoke to
them about the mission in which another three men were
guided by a star to take a message to the whole of Humanity.
