Majestuosos, imponentes, protectores… así son estos leones
guardianes inspirados en las tradicionales estatuas que flanquean
las puertas de palacios, templos y casas nobles en diferentes países
orientales. Los artistas del taller de Alta Porcelana de Lladró han
asumido el reto de elaborarlos en porcelana y el resultado son unas
impresionantes esculturas, que demuestran, una vez más, el grado
de perfección que pueden alcanzar las creaciones de la máxima
categoría artística de la marca.
Símbolo de buena suerte, felicidad y fortaleza en la filosofía
oriental, los leones guardianes se presentan en parejas y protegen los
edificios de los malos espíritus. Vistos de frente, el macho se sitúa a
la derecha y cuida de la estructura, representada por la bola que
sujeta con la pata, mientras que la hembra se sitúa a la izquierda y
vela por sus habitantes, encarnados en el cachorro con el que juega
y que simboliza el ciclo de la vida.
En la Antigüedad estas esculturas se esculpían en bronce, hierro o
granito y en un solo bloque. Por eso, reproducir el efecto majestuoso
de estas criaturas en porcelana ha supuesto un reto dado el gran
volumen y la cantidad necesaria de moldes para conseguir cada
uno de sus elementos. Un desafío técnico que ha permitido, a
la vez, aportar a la iconografía oriental la riqueza decorativa
característica de las grandes obras Lladró.
Majestic, imposing, protectors… these are the guardian lions
inspired by the traditional statues flanking the entrances
to palaces, temples and noble homes in various oriental
countries. The artists from Lladró’s High Porcelain workshop
took on the challenge of recreating them in porcelain and
the result is impressive sculptures, which demonstrate, once
again, the degree of perfection that the creations of the
brand’s maximum artistic category are capable of achieving.
A symbol of good luck, happiness and strength in Eastern
philosophy, these guardian lions come in pairs and protect
buildings from evil spirits. Seen from the front, the male is
on the right, guarding the building represented by the ball he
holds in his claw, while the female located on the left watches
over the inhabitants, represented by the cub with which she is
playing, symbolizing the cycle of life.
In antiquity these creations were sculpted in bronze, iron
and granite in one single block. For that reason, reproducing
the majestic effect of these creatures in porcelain was a true
challenge given the large volume and the quantity of molds
required to render each one of its elements. A technical
challenge that, at once, adds to the oriental iconography the
decorative wealth characteristic of Lladró large works.

En la pareja de leones azules predominan los tonos de esta gama,
característica de Lladró. A ello se une un fileteado con lustre dorado
que alterna acabados brillo y mate. La técnica empleada por los
artistas del Taller de Alta Porcelana para bruñir el lustre le otorga
un esplendor y una elegancia extraordinarios.
The pair of blue lions is predominated by tones in this
signature Lladró color. It is further enhanced with a fillet
of golden luster alternating gloss and matte finishes. The
technique used by the artists at the High Porcelain workshop
to polish the luster adds exceptional elegance and splendor.
