KWAN YIN
De acuerdo con una creencia popular china, Kwan Yin vive en la
isla de Pu-tuo-shan, donde está su templo, rodeado de un lago de
luz violeta que cura el malestar de todo aquel que se baña en sus
aguas. Se dice de ella que no descansará hasta liberar a todos los
seres humanos de su sufrimiento.
Fascinados por su rica iconografía, nuestros artistas han dado vida
a Kwan Yin (01001977), la diosa del amor y de la misericordia en
la filosofía budista, en una serie limitada de 888 unidades.
Lladró recrea por primera vez una imagen budista de esta
envergadura y lo hace con colores innovadores, nunca antes
utilizados en una pieza Lladró, como los tonos morados y malvas,
que se asocian a su rayo de luz sanadora; o los colores metalizados de
oro y plata envejecida de las flores silvestres, que crecen libremente
como en los templos budistas y abrigan la imagen. Para el resto de
la pieza se ha utilizado una gama cromática armónica, en tonos
verdes y amarillos distribuidos uniformemente, sin estridencias. Y
todo en una combinación de acabados brillo y mate, que realza el
esplendor de una diosa tan venerada.
Toda la pieza está cubierta con un velo de barniz color miel que
evoca la pátina del tiempo en esta imagen inspirada en una filosofía
milenaria. El tono cálido de la piel y sus gestos solemnes acentúan
la espiritualidad de Kwan Yin, que significa en chino “la que oye
el lamento del mundo”. El jarrón que sostiene, un bello ejemplo
de la compleja técnica de la cristalización de los esmaltes sobre la
porcelana, contiene el néctar de la compasión y con la ramita de
sauce, la diosa rocía su misericordia sobre todos los seres humanos.
Completa la pieza una peana de pan de plata con formas
orientales y también envejecida mediante la aplicación a mano
de un suave patinado.
According to popular Chinese belief, Kwan Yin dwells on the
island of Mount Putuo, the site of her temple, surrounded by
a lake of violet light that heals anyone who bathes in its water.
It is believed that she will never rest until all human beings are
freed from suffering.
Fascinated by the wealth of her iconography, our artists have
brought Kwan Yin (01001977), the Buddhist goddess of love
and mercy, to life in a limited edition of 888 units.
This is the first time that Lladró has recreated a Buddhist
image of this size, and it has also introduced new colors, never
used before in Lladró, like the purple and mauve tones which
are associated with her rays of healing light; or the metallic
aged gold and silver colors of the wild flowers that grow around
Buddhist temples and frame the image. A harmonic palette
has been used for the rest of the piece in uniformly distributed
subtle hues of green and yellow. Likewise, it combines gloss
and matte finishes to further enhance the splendor of such a
highly venerated goddess.
The whole piece is covered with a honey-colored varnish
that lends the image, inspired by the thousands-year-old
philosophy, an aged effect. The warm tone of the skin and the
solemn gestures accentuate the spirituality of Kwan Yin, which
literally means “perceiving the cries of the world”. The jar she
carries, a beautiful example of the complex crystallization of
enamels on porcelain, contains the nectar of compassion. In
her hand she holds a willow branch, which the goddess uses to
sprinkle her mercy over all human beings.
The piece is rounded off by a base in silver leaf with oriental
patterns and aged by means of a soft patina applied by hand.
