GARDEN PLATE is a low table defined by its extreme lightness and visual transparency, an evocative “out-of-scale” home garden. Mini-containers in humanoid shapes erupt from the fluidity of the surface to offer a home for flowers and plants. The extreme clearness of the table creates a landscape bordering on the surreal, as the plants appear to grow from the floorbelow. “I wanted to create a landscape on a coffee table. I included a little pond, a small mountain, some grass and soon. The table will also hold tea, candles, biscuits, cups and plates. The landscape and the objects together will form a scale scenery setting, a little microcosm. When a room is casually arranged with a number of tables, it is transformed into a mysterious garden. When I look at it, I feel in harmony with the world.” - Junya Ishigami -
