There are many reasons to write: to learn and teach about the world,
to understand whether we have a role to play on the planet and what it is,
to find out if and how we can improve it or simply save it. This encounter
between disegno magazine and Listone Giordano thus also has a possible
meaning in the latter sense. I would therefore like to thank Andrea Margaritelli,
above all, for the opportunity of this partnership, both with the magazine and
with this new publication.
There are many other people to thank, whose contributions led to this
result, but since I can’t do so for everyone, a special thought goes out to Sabina
Betti, who graciously and humorously illustrated my curious stories about
Michele de Lucchi , Patricia Urquiola and Marc Sadler. Finally, I would mostly like
to thank Paola Bellani, deputy director of disegno, without whom the magazine,
which we conceived and realized together, always striving to come up with new
ways to unite the industry with the project’s culture, would not have been
as successful as we wanted it to be.

Sono molte le ragioni che inducono a scrivere: tra le tante, conoscere
e far conoscere il mondo, capire se abbiamo un ruolo sul Pianeta e quale esso
sia, scoprire se e come possiamo fare qualcosa per migliorarlo o semplicemente
salvarlo. Così questo incontro tra la rivista disegno e Listone Giordano ha un
possibile senso anche in quest'ultima direzione. Devo dunque ancora ringraziare
soprattutto Andrea Margaritelli, per l'opportunità di collaborazione offerta, sia
con la rivista che con questa nuova pubblicazione.
Con lui sarebbero molte altre le persone da ricordare che hanno portato
a questo risultato, ma nell'impossibilità di farlo per tutte, un pensiero speciale
va a Sabina Betti, che ha illustrato con garbo e ironia le curiose situazioni dei miei
racconti su Michele de Lucchi, Patricia Urquiola e Marc Sadler.
Il ringraziamento più grande va infine a Paola Bellani, vicedirettore di disegno,
senza cui la rivista non sarebbe così ben riuscita come l'abbiamo desiderata,
pensata e realizzata insieme, protesa sempre verso nuovi programmi di incontro
tra industria e cultura del progetto.
Born in Rome in 1955, a writer and designer, he is one of the best known promoters
of italian project culture, with award-winning publications, exhibitions, essays and TV
programs, as the RAI-TV Lezioni di Design (Lessons in Design) series, awarded with the 2001
Compasso d'Oro prize. He has been for 11 years (2000 to 2011) the Managing Editor of
Domus , where he contributed to launch the historical architectural magazine in the new
media publishing industry. In 2012 he founded the magazine on paper disegno, that he is still
heading as publisher and editor in chief. Since 2016 he has been "Italian Design Ambassador"
for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
