PROBLEM
The protection of hygiene in the shared spaces of our daily lives is becoming
increasingly important. Today’s methods of sanitising environments are not only
expensive and invasive but also force the user to change their habits.
SOLUTION
Linea Light Group introduces Environment Care Lighting, a technology developed and
patented by the University of Glasgow which, thanks to a wavelength of light of 405 nm,
sanitises surfaces, preventing the onset of infections, guaranteeing renewed wellbeing in
the environment in which it is used and reducing the bacterial load by up to 70%. It was
found that after a 10-hour test, the reduction of the bacterial load already reaches 35%.
Environment Care Lighting involves the use of a blue-dominant LED source combined
with a white powerLED, thus achieving a dual functionality: lighting and disinfecting the
environment at the same time. The use of high colour rendering LEDs makes it possible
to illuminate the room by emphasising colours and surfaces.
LIVABLE LIGHT
405 nm technology avoids the use of costly UV technology, which, using frequencies
between 240 and 260 nm, does not allow for permanence during irradiation, as well as
substantially altering the organoleptic properties of the food as well as being harmful.
Environment Care Lighting protects people and their wellbeing in all the working
environments where they spend most of the day.
WHERE
The luminaires in the i-LèD collection that use Environment Care Lighting technology are
Woofer and Rollip, both of which feature dual ignition to keep the antibacterial function
active even when the white light is off.
These luminaires, whose materials have been specially designed to maximise the
effectiveness of their technology, are perfect for the lighting of multifunctional
environments, office areas, retail outlets, public places, residential areas, and controlled
livestock farms.
