Acteurs engagés de la création contemporaine,
Gaëlle Lauriot-Prévost et Dominique Perrault
ont partie liée depuis qu’en 1989, au moment où
débutait l’aventure de la Bibliothèque nationale
de France, Gaëlle Lauriot-Prévost, architecte
d’intérieur et designer, a rejoint l’agence fondée
en 1981 par l’architecte et urbaniste Dominique
Perrault. Ils ont, ensemble, développé une écriture
architecturale originale marquée par des concepts
appliqués à leurs projets tels que le groundscape
désignant l’architecture du sous-sol ou par
l’innovation technique ; ils sont, notamment, les
premiers à recourir à la maille métallique en
architecture. En plus de trois décennies, leur
collaboration a donné lieu à la réalisation de
bâtiments emblématiques parmi lesquels la
grande extension de la Cour européenne de
Justice au Luxembourg, l’Université féminine
d’Ewha en Corée, la DC Tower en Autriche, le
réaménagement du Pavillon Dufour du Château
de Versailles ou encore, la réhabilitation de la
Poste du Louvre, à Paris. Édifices pour lesquels ils
ont dessiné luminaires et mobiliers. Récemment
distingués au sein du classement AD100, Gaëlle
Lauriot-Prévost et Dominique Perrault déclinent
leur univers architectural dans des meubles, objets
et luminaires dont la radicalité du design est
toujours mise au service de la fonctionnalité.
Gaëlle Lauriot-Prévost and Dominique Perrault
have been key figures in contemporary creation
since 1989. Gaëlle, an interior architect and
designer, joined Perrault’s agency, founded
in 1981, at the inception of the Bibliothèque
nationale de France project. Together, they have
crafted a unique architectural language defined
by innovative concepts like «groundscape,»
which refers to the architecture of underground
spaces, as well as technical advancements;
they were pioneers in the use of metal mesh in
architecture.
Over the past three decades, their collaboration
has led to the creation of iconic buildings,
including the major extension of the European
Court of Justice in Luxembourg, Ewha Women’s
University in Korea, the DC Tower in Austria, the
redesign of the Dufour Pavilion at the Château
de Versailles, and the rehabilitation of the Poste
du Louvre in Paris. For these projects, they
also designed lighting and furniture. Recently
included in the AD100 ranking, Gaëlle Lauriot-
Prévost and Dominique Perrault express their
architectural vision through furniture, objects,
and lighting, always ensuring that the boldness
of their designs serves a functional purpose.
