Broom is heavily influenced by both his fashion and theatre backgrounds which can be seen
in the sense of drama and narrative his collections create. Using the design world as a stage, he
has built a reputation for shows which are unexpected, theatrical and immersive. Examples of
this include ‘The Department Store’, one of Broom’s largest exhibition to date which saw the
launch of over twenty-five new products. Presented during Milan Design Week 2015, Broom
took over a street of disused shops on Via Alfredo Cappellini and in his trademark style took
visitors on an immersive journey through a cinematic pastiche of a Lee Broom department
store set across two floors which included a Perfumery, Ladies accessories, Gents fitting room
and Haberdashery providing a unique backdrop to his designs. Broom’s 2016 exhibition
‘Salone Del Automobile’ presented at Milan Design Week saw the Lee Broom liveried delivery
van, driven from London to Italy and pitch up at design districts across the city. In stark
contrast to the industrial exterior, the interior of the van decorated as a surreal faux Italian
palazzo showcased Broom’s latest lighting collection. Both ‘Salone Del Automobile’ and ‘The
Department Store’ were selected as one of the top 16 shows out of over 1500 across Milan in
the prestigious Milano Design Awards over two consecutive years running.
Broom has grown the company rapidly over the past ten years, but with still so much more to achieve, the brand in many ways has only just begun. 2017
not only commemorates and marks a landmark decade in design for Lee Broom but it introduces the next chapter of continued international success.
With a very diverse and interesting route into design, Broom has
used his multi discipline background to create a highly original
collection of coverted products. Gracing magazine covers and
newspapers internationally with designs that are both unique
and familiar, Broom invites you into his classic, contemporary
and often surreal universe, making the brand an experience for
people to become a part of. With this approach, Broom has made
design and his unique showmanship a successful global business.
With stockists and dealers across the UK, US, Canada, Europe, Asia
and Australia, two flagship Lee Broom showrooms in London and
New York and a showroom in Downtown Los Angeles to follow;
Winning over 20 awards to date, including British Designer of the Year Award, he has also
won four awards in three consecutive years in the British Design Awards. This year, Broom
was awarded an AD Great Design Award by Architectural Digest for the Mini Crescent
Chandelier, an Art Deco inspired globe with a contemporary twist and one of Broom’s best
selling designs globally. Most recently, Broom was presented with The Queen’s Award for
Enterprise by Her Majesty The Queen at Buckingham Palace. The UK’s highest accolade
for business success, the award was presented in the category for International Trade and
recognised the brands international growth and increased year on year export figures.
