The Empress collection
is designed by Jakub
Berdych, co-founder
of Qubus Design Studio.
The collection is informed
by traditional Theresian
chandeliers, where the
classical aristocratic
lighting structures were
made at a time of extreme
perfectionism.
The Empress chandeliers
translate the Theresian
fixtures within the scope
of Berdych’s own design
language, in that the
trimmings are incomplete
– stopped prior to the final
cutting and polishing.
He contrasts the
traditional fastidiousness
of the past era with his
own brutal vision, creating
a splendorous take on the
merger of tradition and
modernity. The collection
has chandeliers in
two sizes. Due to their
grandeur, they can
uplift a formal setting
to an ambience of pomp
and nobility.
