Guide
Wood finishes and colours
We work with solid ash, oak and tulipwood, and some wood
veneers and composites where technically required, each
carefully purchased from responsibly harvested sources
complying with UK Timber regulations. We prioritise wood
from sustainably managed sources where possible, and
conduct periodic testing across our supply chains to ensure
materials are of declared origin and species.
We have a collection of pieces made using British certified
ash, as part of our partnership with Grown in Britain (GiB).
The GiB logo highlights these pieces.
Our furniture is finished with a wood stain, the options for
which are shown right and on relevant product specification
pages, before a coat of lacquer is applied to protect the
furniture. Please note that our Clear Matt (CM) finish seals
and protects the furniture. As a result, it does not blend or
conceal any of the natural variations within the timber. It will
show the wood colour and grain off to its full, natural beauty.
Timbers can also vary from range to range. To see the exact
colour and finish of the wood, order a sample on our website.
For safety reasons, all cabinets over 60cm in height should
be secured to a wall to ensure stability. For this reason
furniture will have holes or fixings on the back.
Fabric ranges
We have a wide range of fabrics and leathers for selected
ranges. Fabrics to suit the furniture designs have been carefully
selected and the names of the fabric collections are shown on
the specification pages - Ercol, Casa, Edit, Natura, Paloma and

Sofas are measured to maximum dimensions, but due to
the manufacturing process, these can vary slightly. Scatter
cushions supplied are as per images shown on pages 84 -95.
We offer a re-cover service on some show wood frame
ranges. You can order genuine ercol replacement cushions to
extend the life of your furniture. The ranges available for this
service are listed in our ReCover guide or at ercol.com/recover
