The main purpose of a desk light is to provide
focused additional light to the workspace,
without having a distracting effect on the person
sitting at the desk. Therefore, the ideal light
source for a desk light is covered with a diffuser,
providing sufficient light output, but preventing a
disturbing direct view and glare of the light.
