Interview with
Philippe
van Doormaal
Can you tell us about the origin
of the name “kreon” and how it
reflects the brand’s philosophy?
Philippe van Doormaal:
“Absolutely. The name “kreon”
stems from the French word
“crayon”, meaning “pencil”.
A pencil marks the starting point
for an architect’s vision.
At kreon, we believe in
simplifying lighting solutions to
their essence, just as a pencil
distils ideas onto paper. Our
luminaires are designed with
architecture in mind, focusing on
purity and simplicity to enhance
the built environment.”
How does kreon’s product range
embody its core values of purity
and simplicity?
Philippe van Doormaal: “From
the outset, kreon has remained
dedicated to its core values
of unity in design, simplicity
in techniques and precision
in details. Our product range
reflects this commitment by
offering minimalist lighting
solutions that seamlessly
integrate into architectural
spaces. Over the years,
while we’ve introduced more
decorative touches, we’ve
ensured that our designs
stay true to these principles,
maintaining a harmonious
balance between form and
function.”
Philippe van Doormaal:
“Drawing parallels to preparing
a menu, creating a lighting
plan is akin to selecting the
right ingredients. At kreon, we
offer a comprehensive range
of luminaires that provide the
essential elements for a perfect
lighting scheme. Whether it’s
interior or exterior projects,
our collection encompasses a
diverse array of fixtures to suit
every need.”
How does kreon ensure quality
and reliability in its products?
Philippe van Doormaal: “Quality
and reliability are paramount
to us. We meticulously design,
develop and produce our
luminaires to meet the highest

prioritize excellence in every
aspect of our products.”
What sets kreon apart from
other lighting brands in the
market?

sets us apart is our unwavering
dedication to architectural
integrity and innovation. We
don’t just offer lighting solutions;
we provide tools for architects
and designers to realize their
visions. Our commitment
to purity, simplicity and
sustainability distinguishes us in

pure and emotionally charged
architectural designs.”
