When I first approached Piero Lissoni with the idea of designing a
collection for JANUS et Cie, I knew it was because I long admired
his refined taste and personal style. Piero’s linear compositions
reminded me of how Maestro Giulini held his baton when conducting
an orchestra—long arms and pianissimo fingers extending to his
fantastic rhythm, transported in air. I knew the collection would
need to be both rich and organic, neutral in surface and color
with a spin of eclectic. The materials and touch had to be elegant.
I wanted to present our first Lissoni collection to be understood and
enjoyed both outdoors and in.
Together, we embarked on a wonderful journey of design—which
took patience and time—to first conceive both form and function.
Ever changing and evolving, resolving, dreaming... we explored,
tested and developed many unique options.
Only after defining the ingredients could we begin to knit the magic
of building complex components, forms and crafting-obsessed
details into reality.
Investing in extraordinary fabrication techniques and finishes, we
have created what will long be regarded as an illustrious family of
sensual, sophisticated, and handcrafted elements.
I am so pleased to have collaborated with Piero and his Milano
team together with the JANUS et Cie Singapore design studio.
