Bright screens and bright light at night activate melanopsin,
which sends a confusing signal to the brain that it’s not night yet,
producing less melatonin, and we sleep poorly.
Good night sleep
Melanopsin is less sensitive to dim orange light or candlelight,
so if we are awake at night, the melanopsin is not activated,
melatonin is produced, and we get a good night’s sleep.
