EN - What is the origin of the product’s name?
The origin of Relief goes back to an idea I had even before
starting the design: creating a low or high “relief” that
would resemble a small cushion, yet achieved directly
through moulding. I wanted a simple, welcoming, rounded
shell, marked by a graphic detail that was not intrusive
but still distinctive enough to set it apart. After several
trials, the choice finally fell on a “high relief”.
Do you recall any anecdotes related to the project?
Rather than an anecdote, I would mention an important
turning point: Relief was the first project in which I
didn’t just design the plastic shell with its bases, but also
developed the four-star swivel base in die-cast aluminium.
This detail added an extra design value, and from there
we never stopped—Relief became a true seating solution
conceived for the HoReCa and contract world.
Who inspired you during the creative process?
Inspiration comes from many directions. I believe that
ideas are constantly floating around us: it’s up to us,
as creatives, to capture them and transform them into
concrete, long-lasting projects.
How would you describe your style?
I wouldn’t say I have a particular style. I travel a lot, and
I am constantly influenced by different cultures, food,
languages and trends. What I am sure about is that I
don’t want to create “museum pieces” but democratic
products, designed to be accessible to as many people as
possible.
Where are you from?
I live and work in Padua, a city that is also home to the
studio founded by my father over fifty years ago, which
still today represents the heart of my creative activity.
What are your sources of inspiration?
My sources of inspiration are everywhere: anything
around me can become a creative spark, especially what
has not yet been explored or turned into a trend.
What are your passions?
My greatest passion is football, especially Padova Calcio,
of which I am a devoted supporter. Alongside that, I am
fascinated by everything that is still unexplored, far from
mainstream trends.
