Richard Sherman Photography, Spring 2021
Richard Sherman is a full-time professional
photographer specializing in nature and nautical
images. As a former Navy officer, and a recreational
sailor, his images often feature water elements,
especially oceans. He makes attentive use of space
and light to create peaceful and tranquil images of
seascapes, landscapes, and other nature subjects. He
is perhaps best-known for his imagery of small boats
and sailing, and his work has appeared in Classic
Boat and Yachts International magazines and the
cover of Caribbean Compass (October 2019). A series
of his black and white images were exhibited at Red
Filter Gallery in Lambertville, NJ in 2014.
In 2019, he traveled to Bahrain to photograph current
operations on the American naval base for the US
Navy. At present, Rich is working on a multi-year
photography project to honor our fallen servicemen
and women who are interred in American overseas
cemeteries.
Mr. Sherman is an avid traveler, and has visited
more than 40 countries. He is a member of Philadelphia Photo Arts, the North American Nature Photography Association, the
American Legion, and the American Schooner Association. He teaches workshops and leads photo tours for Princeton Photo
Workshops.
In his free time, Rich likes to sail, is a member of the Amateur Astronomers Association of Princeton, and is learning French. He
enjoys playing golf and tennis and he makes his home in Skillman, NJ with his wife Jennifer and their three dogs.
