Insula è un modo differente di concepire la seduta: è
sedersi, sdraiarsi, rilassarsi, socializzare, conversare,
guardarsi; un modo nuovo di usare lo spazio sia
domestico che di più ampie dimensioni come hall ed
attese di alberghi e grandi uffici. Insula è un centro,
un blocco, un isolato che si affaccia su quattro vie,
un’isola. Insula cambia la percezione dei nostri spazi,
nega la direzionalità unica, il fronte ed il retro; nella sua
libertà di seduta, di postura, di posizione ci fa percepire
i nostri interni come spazi tridimensionali dilatati. La
sua modularità e trasformabilità, il suo essere sistema
sono sottolineate e ribadite dal reticolo a quadrati delle
cuciture e dalla essenzialità delle linee.
Insula is a different way of conceiving sofa: it is sitting,
lying down, relaxing, socialising, conversing, looking
at each other; a new way of using space, both domestic
and larger such as lobbies and waiting areas in hotels and
large offices. Insula is a center, a block, an island that
overlooks four streets. Insula changes the perception of
our spaces, denies the single directionality, the front and
the back; in its freedom of sitting, posture and position
it makes us perceive our interiors as dilated three-
dimensional spaces. Its modularity and transformability,
its being a system are underlined and reiterated by the
squared pattern of the stitching and by the essentiality of
the shape.
