Nelson Coconut Lounge Chair
Designed by George Nelson
As did its designer, the Coconut Lounge Chair manages to surprise
and delight. It merges seat, back, and arms into a single form—a
synthesis of art and engineering that redefnes the interplay of
beauty and comfort.
Inspiration for the chair came from a slice of coconut—revealing the
truth behind George Nelson’s mantra: “Total design is nothing more
or less that a process of relating everything to everything.” Nelson
developed his chair to bring comfort and freedom of movement to
lounge seating. With the chair’s shallow sides, leather-upholstered
curves, and generous one-piece foam rubber padding, he achieved
his goal; the chair invites you to sit in any position, shif at will,
and work or relax with pleasurable ease.
Formwork™
Designed by Sam Hecht and Kim Colin
Formwork stackable desktop storage helps you bring order to
your papers, tools, and artifacts. With shapes and sizes that
were rigorously considered in order to relate an intuitive sense
of utility, the accessories may be stacked and combined in any
way you see ft.
Balancing a meticulous attention to detail with a thoughtful
consideration of context, Hecht and Colin created Formwork
in varying permutations, allowing some items to be kept out
of view while others remain within reach, based on aesthetic
considerations or frequency of use. The sophisticated forms,
material production, and color palette indicate a level of
thoughtfulness rarely brought to desktop goods. Each form
is shaped in ABS plastic and has a nonslip silicone base.
