Eames Aluminum Group
Designed by Charles and Ray Eames
In a departure from the concept of the chair as a solid shell,
Charles and Ray Eames suspended a continuous piece of
upholstery tautly between two aluminum side ribs to create
the seat and back that give the Eames Aluminum Group its
subtle, body-conforming comfort.
Originally designed in 1958 as outdoor seating for industrialist
J. Irwin Miller’s home, this Eames classic has been in constant
demand ever since. A minimal profle and sculptural lines make
this family of seating appropriate for both formal and casual
settings. The design comes in a wide range of new fnishes and
materials that make it suitable for indoor or outdoor use.
