Design for the Environment
The impact that our business has on the environment
is an important concern to us, and our eco-inspired design
approach advocates for the manufacture of better, more
sustainable products. With this in mind, Paragraph is
Herman Miller’s first storage product to be made from
Melamine-Faced Chipboard (MFC) which is part of the
closed-loop recycling process which we operate in PortalMill,
our factory in the UK. Herman Miller now ethically disposes
of more than 1,000 tonnes of wood waste each year
through this process, which converts the waste material
back to raw material, allowing new particle board to be
made over and over again. In addition, Paragraph Storage
is up to 99 per cent recyclable which supports our aim
to minimise the environmental impact of our products.
