The last century has seen incredible changes to the food system, our relationship with food and perception of nourishment, aside from the importance
placed on the aesthetics of food. With it the industrialised food system has brought a vast array of fast food at our finger tips, only to encourage lone figures to devour
instant food whilst staring blankly at a screen and tapping away furiously at their keypads. Inadvertently, this is a form of self-punishment as a consequence of convenience.
In contrast, the rhythm of the day can be punctuated by meal times and the daily rituals of preparing and sharing food. Whether this is as simple as a cup of freshly ground
coffee brewed in a stovetop Bialetti and enjoyed from your favourite cup, or more elaborate meals, we create special moments in time. From searching through your well-
thumbed cookery books for recipes, spending a day at the market to buy the freshest ingredients and the afternoon in preparation before you even get to preening yourself,
deciding the music to play and adjusting the lighting levels, all these elements affect how people interact, converse and ultimately feel in themselves.
