Louis Weisdorf's Turbo Pendant was designed in 1965,
but first put into production in 1967 and has achieved
great success since then. It represents design at its best: it
is simple in form yet complex in structure, and combines
a sense of both strength and spaciousness in a beautiful
sculptural whole. The lightness of the Japanese rice paper
that inspired the lamp has been transformed into a more
durable and sturdier form. The outer curve of the lamp
is made of 12 spiral membranes that form a flower-like
globe to shield the light. The Turbo Pendant is a perfect
example of how Weisdorf's passion for the repetition of
elements characterizes his design.
Geometry creates sculptural elegance
