just a stone’s throw from the Alster Lake – the cultural center offers

theater productions to parties and flea markets.
Weit südlich der Elbe in den Harburger Phoenixhallen
befindet sich die Sammlung Falckenberg. Allein die
großzügigen Räume der denkmalgeschützten Industriear-
chitektur sind schon einen Besuch wert. / The Falckenberg
Collection is housed at Phoenix-Hallen in Harburg district,
far south of the Elbe River. As a designated landmark with
spacious rooms, the industrial architecture alone is well
worth a visit.
Im schönen Eppendorf gelegen findet man die Galerie Schimming.
Bekannte Künstler wie Alex Katz oder der Hamburger Simon Nelke
bekommen hier eine Bühne, genau wie vielversprechende Nachwuchs-
künstler. / Located in the beautiful district of Eppendorf, Galerie
Schimming provides a stage for well-known artists such as Alex Katz
and Hamburg resident Simon Nelke as well as promising up-and-
coming artists.
In den großzügigen Räumen der Buchhandlung sind die
Bücher zu Kunst, Kultur und Architektur bis unter die Decke
verstaut und lassen sich zum Teil nur mit hohen Leitern
erreichen. Hier kann man stundenlang schmökern! / The
books on art, culture, and architecture are stacked as high
as the ceiling in the spacious rooms of the bookshop and
some of them can only be accessed with a tall ladder. You
could easily spend hours here browsing through the books!

Das MARKK in Rothenbaum zählt zu den größten
ethnografischen Museen Europas. Nachdem Barbara
Plankensteiner Direktorin des Hauses wurde, hat sich
nicht nur der Name geändert. Neben Ausstellungen gibt
es auch Angebote wie Tangoabende oder Impro-Theater,
um das Museum für ganz neues Publikum zu öffnen. /
MARKK in Rothenbaum is one of Europe’s largest
ethnographic museums. Once Barbara Plankensteiner
was appointed Museum Director, it was more than just
the name that changed. In addition to exhibitions, there’s
now also a variety of offers such as tango evenings
and improv theater, designed to open up the museum
to a whole new audience.
