The suspension lamp designed by Luca Nichetto and Giampietro Gai has a polyurethane body that resembles a flattened sphere cut on two opposite sides so as to allow direct and reflected light to pass. Direct light passes through two central holes in the upper and lower part of the lamp. The light source is positioned on the lower part for glare protection.
O–space sets itself apart because it is made with an unusual material in lighting: the high-density expanded polyurethane that is normally employed in chairs, televisions sets and PCs. The objective was to obtain a very light-weight product that would nevertheless have a certain visual solidity.
