An intimate, personal story told with a simple, direct style. This is Doll, the new lamp created from a combination of the endless sensitivity and creativity of its young designer, Ionna Vautrin, together with Foscarini’s design experience and technological innovation.
Doll is known for its warm, friendly presence with essential and evocative charm, which is meant to be kept close by like the traditional Japanese “Kokeshi Dolls” that inspired it. Like these small artisan creations, Doll provokes an immediate reaction with its stylized shape.
Two distinct proportions – a round head and circular body – create a new idea and a new character on the contemporary home scene. Compact and portable like an old oil lamp whose shape and ease of handling it recalls, it moves around different rooms lending itself to endless spaces and uses: on a bedside table as a nightlight or on a table or desk to brighten up your day, always adding an appealing, playful, personal touch.
The two shapes that make up Doll are made of two different materials, which are both part of Foscarini’s history and are a recurring part of the company’s expressive vocabulary: blown glass and plastic. The volumes are separated and underlined by a dark ring, which becomes a graphic symbol of connection and acts as a support for the light bulb within.
While the blown glass speaks the reassuring language of a warm, brilliant, natural light, the plastic of the cylindrical base offers expressive use of color and further opportunities for customization.
Unusual and elegant in green, sober and refined in grey, softly classical in ivory or lively and extrovert in red: the strong character of this little lamp is underlined in the four colors available, which allow everyone to choose their ideal Doll.
Its personality is emphasized by specially studied packaging, which makes it an even better idea for a small gift, for yourself or for someone you love.
