Description:
This prestigious polychromatic marble was employed in the decoration of Versailles Castle in
France, and several other remarkable historical buildings across Europe, throughout the 19th
century. The velvety intense black background enriches and exalts the chromatic contrasts of large
yellow-gold veins which cross the slab. In this decor piece, a hand-ground layer of crystal is
layered to an extra-thin layer of solid Black Portoro marble, thanks to an innovative experimental
craft technique of surface layering. A trompe-l’oeil effect changes the observer's perception
according to the point of view, melting objective and subjective dimensions through a fading marble
layer, which seems to almost disappear into the wall. Ideal in a small batch, collecting the different
