I fratelli Achille e Pier Gia-
como Castiglioni avevano
ideato l’iconico riflettore
a coppa in materia plas-
tica trasparente. L’idea fu
abbandonata per le defor-
mazioni generate su di esso
dal calore della sorgente
luminosa a incandescenza.
Il prototipo fu quindi svi-
luppato e prodotto da Flos
nel 1962 con la celebre ed
imponente coppa in vetro
soffiato.
Taccia matte white è l’ulti-
ma interpretazione
di questo classico contem-
poraneo:
la versione monocromatica
e opaca della lampada ne
esalta la silhouette e rende
onore alla pura espressi-
one della sua funzionalità.
In the Castiglioni brothers’
original design, the iconic
bowl reflector was made
of transparent plastic. This
idea was discarded though
because the heat emitted
by the incandescent light
source deformed the plastic
material. The prototype
was then developed and
produced by Flos in 1962,
with its famous big blown
glass bowl.
Taccia white is the latest
interpretation of this con-
temporary classic:
The monochromatic, matte
version of the lamp en-
hances its silhouette
and honours the pure ex-
pression of its functionality.
