il mio impegno rimane intatto: sperimentare, creando mobili
il cui pregio deriva dalla qualità dei materiali e soprattutto
dall’eccellenza dell’artigianato italiano. Se è naturale il
riferimento al periodo glorioso del design della prima metà
del Novecento, le mie collezioni per FENDI Casa sono
decisamente contemporanee, prive di nostalgia, per resistere
alla prova del tempo. Soho è rieditata e arricchita di nuovi
elementi. Quanto alle nuove collezioni, sono tanto diverse
quanto variegate, tutte legate da un fil rouge: la doppia F”.
“After a decade of working with FENDI Casa, my
commitment is unchanged: experimenting, creating furniture
whose value derives from the quality of the materials, and
above all from the excellence of Italian craftsmanship.
While referencing the glorious design period of the first half
of the twentieth century is only natural, my collections for
FENDI Casa are resolutely contemporary, free of nostalgia,
designed to stand the test of time. Soho, presented at the
Salone del Mobile 2012, has been reimagined and imbued
with new elements. As for the new collections, they are
as diverse as they are varied, all linked by a common thread:
the double F”.

“Nel creare questa prima collezione per FENDI Casa
abbiamo scelto un approccio olistico. Anziché disegnare dei
singoli prodotti, abbiamo voluto realizzare veri e propri
ambienti di vita, traducendo gli elementi distintivi del design
FENDI trovati negli archivi moda della maison in eleganti
progetti di interior. L’ispirazione viene dal patrimonio italiano
e abbraccia la sua ricchezza artistica, culturale e artigianale,
utilizzando vetro, pietre e tessuti di provenienza locale. I valori
del nostro studio sono molto in linea con quelli di FENDI.
Per questo, collaborare con loro ci ha fatto sentire a casa”.
“We took a holistic approach when creating this first
collection for FENDI Casa. Instead of designing individual
products, we wanted to create authentic living environments,
interpreting the signature elements of FENDI design found
in the fashion archives of the maison into elegant interior
designs. Inspiration stems from Italy’s heritage to encompass
its wealth of art, culture and craftsmanship, using locally
sourced glass, stone and textiles. The values of our design
studio are very much in line with those of FENDI. So working
with them made us feel very much at home.”

Per Toan Nguyen il design è
una disciplina intimamente legata
all’oggetto, nel senso tradizionale
del termine, dove la relazione fisica
con la persona è prioritaria. Laureato
all’École Nationale Supérieure de
Création Industrielle (ENSCI) di Parigi
nel 1995, il designer francese affina
la sua formazione a Barcellona con
Alberto Lievore e poi a Milano con
Antonio Citterio. Nel 2009 fonda il
suo studio a Milano, con cui realizza
mobili, illuminazione, ceramica e
prodotti tecnologici. Il suo approccio,
attento alla funzionalità del design
e all’ottimizzazione dei processi
produttivi, non rinuncia tuttavia a
esaltare la sensualità della materia e
l’emozione suscitata dall’oggetto.
For Toan Nguyen, design is a
discipline intrinsically connected to the
object, in the traditional sense of the
term, where the physical interaction with
the individual is paramount.
A graduate of the ENSCI in Paris in 1995,
he founded in 2009 his own studio in
Milan, with which he creates furniture,
lighting, ceramics and technological
products. His approach, focused on
the practical nature of design and on
streamlining production processes,
does not, however, fail to accentuate
the sensuality of the material and the
emotion aroused by the object.
