Neo-cañí a
medida bajo el
sol de Ibiza
It seems a riddle, but it is far from that. “Neo-cañí” is
the concept that better suits the decoration style of
Estado Puro, one of the two restaurants the Spanish
chef Paco Roncero runs at the Hard Rock Hotel Ibiza,
bespoke by the Valencian creative atelier EstudiHac.
But what does this neo-cañí style consist of? It
means basically using Spanish iconographies such as
the cured pork leg, the flounces or the curved comb,
but through a contemporary screening. This is what
postmodernity is all about: it turns a hindquarter of
pork into the omnipresent guitar of the Hard Rock Café
by means of neon lights or it replicates a palm tree by
juxtaposing plastic ornamental combs.
Parece un acertijo, pero no lo es. El neo-cañí es, el estilo
que define la decoración de Estado Puro, una de las
dos propuestas gastronómicas del chef Paco Roncero
en el Hard Rock Hotel de Ibiza, hecha a medida por
el atelier creativo valenciano EstudiHac.
¿Y en qué consiste lo neo-cañí? Pues en el uso de
iconografías tan españolas como la pata de jamón,
los faralaes o la peineta, pero pasadas por un tamiz
actual. Es lo que tiene la posmodernidad que lo
mismo convierte el cuarto trasero de un cerdo en el
trasunto de la ubicua guitarra del Hard Rock Café a
fuerza de neón que reproduce una palmera mediante
la superposición de peinetas de plástico.
