e innova, non solo quella che custodisce i suoi capolavori
artistici”. Edra è stata la risposta naturale. “La sua presenza
nel Palazzo del Quirinale, la disponibilità straordinaria e la
grande attenzione ai dettagli ci hanno convinti a intraprendere
un percorso iniziato con un solo divano… poi diventati due,
poi poltrone, tavolini… e via via una costellazione di oggetti”,
racconta Maria Grazia con un sorriso. “Abbiamo scelto arredi
che fossero forti, distintivi, che rappresentassero l’identità e la
qualità”, afferma l’Ambasciatore. “Ogni pezzo ha un impatto
visivo immediato e crea un ambiente accogliente ma allo
stesso tempo di grande forza estetica. Quello che ci piace è
che trasmetta un senso di prestigio, ma anche di modernità”.
“Mi piaceva un colore verde e ho scoperto che Edra ha
una selezione di tantissime tonalità! – prosegue la moglie
dell’ambasciatore – Quindi è stato un lavoro molto più lungo,
accurato e profondo di quanto pensassi, cha ha permesso di
armonizzare l’eleganza della tradizione locale con le linee
moderne, creando un ambiente che rispecchia la dinamicità
dell’arte italiana. Chi entra percepisce la nostra storia ma
anche il nostro presente creativo”. L’intervento ha risposto a
esigenze estetiche ma anche diplomatiche, come la necessità di
garantire percorsi fluidi e adattare le sedute alle serate ufficiali
o ai colloqui informali grazie alle loro modularità libere.
Il progetto di rinnovamento non è solo un restyling estetico,
ma anche una dichiarazione di intenti. “Quello che speriamo

Rome’s Quirinale Palace, the extraordinary helpfulness and
openness, and the meticulous attention to detail persuaded us
to embark on a journey beginning with a single sofa... which
then became two, then armchairs, side tables... and gradually
a whole constellation of objects”, explains Maria Grazia
with a smile. “We chose distinctive strong furnishings that
represent identity and quality” states the Ambassador. “Each
piece has an immediate visual impact and creates a welcoming
yet aesthetically powerful environment. What we like is that
they convey a sense of prestige but also of modernity”. The
ambassador’s wife continues: “There was a green colour
I liked, and I discovered that Edra has an vast selection of
shades! So it was a much longer, deeper and more meticulous
process than I had expected, allowing us to harmonize the
elegance of local tradition with more modern lines, and to
create an environment that reflects the dynamism of Italian art.
People entering here perceive our history but also our creative
present”. The project responded to aesthetic needs as well as
diplomatic: for example the need to ensure the smooth flow
of movement throughout, and seating that can adapt both to
formal evenings and informal conversations with their modular
freedom of design.
However the renovation project was not just an aesthetic
restyling, but a statement of intent. “What we hope is that
