a pochi chilometri da Porto Vecchio. Un luogo incantevole che accoglie
un piccolo porticciolo di pescatori, spiagge di sabbia bianca e una vista
mozzafiato sul mare. Il progetto si inserisce perfettamente in questo
contesto, incarnando i valori della convivialità e della serenità. Come
racconta Jérôme Picard: “È un modello di ospitalità ibrido. L’obiettivo
è offrire la sensazione di sentirsi a casa e allo stesso tempo creare
occasioni di incontro. Un luogo per vivere momenti unici con le persone
che amiamo, per grandi tavolate, scoppi di risate, tutti quegli attimi di
felicità che ci uniscono. Pinarello mi ha affascinato, è stato un amore a
prima vista, come capita raramente. Il mare, la sagoma maestosa dei pini
marittimi, il profumo delle erbe aromatiche della macchia mediterranea.
Da subito ho voluto che l’intero progetto fosse aperto al panorama e al
giardino, che l’architettura si affacciasse
sull’orizzonte, che interno ed esterno
diventassero un tutt’uno”. Questo
prende forma attraverso l’architettura,
che scolpisce ambienti concepiti come
estensioni del sé, aprendo al contempo
spazi di respiro comuni, favorendo
gli scambi quotidiani, in un sottile
equilibrio tra interiorità e socialità,
tra rifugio e incontro. “A Spartera è
pensata per fondersi con l’ambiente,
pur rimanendo discretamente, quasi
furtivamente presente attraverso una
sintesi tra l’architettura contemporanea,
elegante e curata nei minimi dettagli, e
la tradizione corsa”, spiega l’architetto
Joseph Battistelli. Un risultato ottenuto
grazie all’uso di un materiale locale
come il granito, che ancora l’edificio al
suolo come avveniva per gli antichi ovili
dell’isola. “La mineralità diventa qui
un linguaggio a sé stante, una memoria
trasformata in materia, evocando edifici
del passato e affermando al contempo
uno stile contemporaneo. Le pareti
in pietra interagiscono con il metallo
color bronzo, giocando con la luce e i
riflessi”, prosegue Joseph Battistelli.
La grande porta vetrata di tre metri d’altezza, che si apre in un gesto
ampio e silenzioso, permette A Spartera di abbracciare la vista, mentre
il pergolato interrompe la massa, tagliando con precisione la pietra e
creando un sottile collegamento tra la facciata posteriore e il volume
che si slancia in avanti. Due ali principali e due dépendance sono
organizzate attorno a una piscina concepita come uno specchio d’acqua
che cattura i riflessi, accoglie il cielo e diventa un punto di equilibrio
tra minerale e vegetale. “In Corsica la luce è onnipresente, vivida e
contrastante: ha quindi guidato le nostre scelte, diventando essa stessa
materia del progetto. I pergolati si ispirano al disegno degli aghi di pino:
port, white sandy beaches, and breathtaking views of the sea. The project
fits perfectly with the context, embodying the values of conviviality and
serenity. As Jérôme Picard explains, “It is a hybrid model of hospitality.
The aim is to offer the sensation of feeling at home at the same time
as creating opportunities for socialising. It’s a place for experiencing
unique moments with the people we love, for sitting around big tables,
laughter, and all the moments of happiness that unite people. Pinarello
charms me, it was one of those loves at first sight that happen very rarely.
The sea, the imposing silhouettes of umbrella pines, the perfume of
aromatic Mediterranean herbs: from the beginning I wanted the entire
project to be open to the view and garden, for the architecture to look
out to the horizon, and for the interiors and exteriors to become one. All
this has been shaped by an architecture
that has sculpted an environment
conceived as an extension of self, while
creating spaces with a communal air
that favour daily exchange. There is a
subtle balance between interiority and
sociality, refuge and encounter.
“A Spartera has been conceived to
blend with the environment while
remaining discreetly present, almost
secret, in a synthesis of elegant,
meticulously
crafted
contemporary
architecture and Corsican traditions”
explains architect Joseph Battistelli.
This result was obtained with the use of
granite, a local material that anchors the
building to the ground in the same way
as the island’s ancient shepherd huts.
“Minerality here becomes a language
of its own, memory transformed into
material, evoking buildings of the
past and at the same time declaring a
contemporary style. Stone walls interact
with the metal’s bronze colour, playing
with light and reflections” continues
Joseph Battistelli. The large, three
metre high glass door, opens with a
silent and sweeping gesture to let A
Spartera embrace the view. The pergola canopy breaks up the main
mass of the building, cutting through the stone precisely and creating
subtle connections between the rear walls and the main volume of the
building with its forward thrust. Two main wings and two guest houses
are arranged around a pool, conceived as a water mirror capturing
reflections, welcoming the sky, and acting as a point of balance
between mineral and vegetal. “Light is omnipresent in Corsica,
vivid and contrasting, it oriented our choices and became one of the
materials of the project. The pergola canopies are inspired by patterns
of pine needles, filtering the light, creating ever-changing shadows
