WELCOME
È
difficile definire il tempo. Treccani lo fa in sette
modi diversi. Anche così: “Intervallo temporale
più o meno prolungato, che si distingue con una
fisionomia propria, senza però collocarsi in un
momento presente, passato o futuro”.
Einstein diceva che il tempo non esiste, che è uguale all’eternità
e quindi uguale al nulla. Anche per me il tempo non si colloca nel
presente, nel passato o nel futuro. È semplicemente il momento
giusto di agire. “Cogli l’attimo”. Succede nella vita, quando la
storia – personale o universale che sia – richiede una scelta. Ma
anche in una balera, quando la musica del tango suggerisce un
casquè.
Il tempo dà valore alle persone. E alle cose. Quando il tempo
attraversa oggetti, luoghi e paesaggi dominati dalla bellezza, la
bellezza diventa senza tempo. In Edra non indichiamo l’anno
di produzione dei modelli. Perché attraversano il tempo, per
restare con noi e con chi verrà. In un tempo altro.

t is difficult to define time. The Treccani dictionary
defines it seven different ways. This is one: “A
temporal interval, more or less prolonged, with its
own distinct character, but not situated in a present,
past or future moment”. Einstein said time does not
exist, that it is the same as eternity and therefore the same as
nothingness. I too think time cannot be situated in a present,
past or future. It is simply the right time to act: “Seize the
moment”. This happens in life when history - whether personal
or universal - requires a choice. But it could be a dance hall,
when the tango music suggests a risqué dip.
Time gives value to people. And to things. When time traverses
objects, places and landscapes in which beauty is dominant, the
beauty becomes timeless. At Edra we do not indicate the year
of production on our pieces. Because they traverse time, they
remain with us, and with those to come. In a time that is other.
In this issue of Edra Magazine – Our Point of View we have

E non soltanto per guardarlo sull’orologio.
Ti auguro tempo per toccare le stelle
E tempo per crescere e maturare.
Ti auguro tempo per sperare, nuovamente e per amare.
Non ha più senso rimandare.
Ti auguro tempo per trovare te stesso,
Per vivere ogni tuo giorno, ogni tua ora come un dono.
Ti auguro tempo anche per perdonare.
Ti auguro di avere tempo, tempo per la vita.

I wish you time to be happy and to laugh
and if you use it, you can make something out of it.
I wish you time for your doings and thinking,
not only for yourself, but also to give away to others.
I wish you time – not to hastle and run,
but time to know how to be contented.
I wish you time – not to pass just like that.
I wish that some of it may be left for you
as a time to marvel and to trust,
instead of just looking at the time on your watch.
I wish you time to reach for the stars,
and time to grow, to mature.
I wish you time to hope and to love.
There is no sense in putting this time off.
I wish you time to find yourself,
to see the happiness in each day and each hour.
I wish you time also to forgive.
I wish you time: time to live.
Elli Michler
recounted our point of view on time. These essays talk of time
grasped, used, represented, lived. The journeys tell the story
of time passing, remaining, being made. We started from afar,
going back centuries to Paestum’s archaeological park, and
arrived in a contemporary villa in Lugano, passing through an
estate in Tuscany, a mountain chalet, and a residence in the
Vienna countryside. We have been to Paris, to the Hôtel de la
Rochefoucauld-Doudeauville, site of the Italian Embassy. And
again in Paris, we visited Casa Italia, for the 2024 Olympic
Games. The Magazine is an adventure, exploring themes and
reflections it is our pleasure to share with you.
In her poem, I wish you time, Elli Michler invites us to reflect on
the value of time, and how each one of us can think, or re-think,
our lives. Always we should take great care of time. Now, in this
moment.

In questo numero di Edra Magazine – Our Point of View
abbiamo raccontato il nostro punto di vista sul tempo. I saggi
trattano un tempo còlto, usato, rappresentato e vissuto. I viaggi
raccontano il tempo che passa, che resta, che si sta facendo.
Siamo partiti da molto lontano nei secoli, dal parco archeologico
di Paestum, per arrivare a Lugano in una villa contemporanea,
passando da una tenuta in Toscana, da uno chalet di montagna e
da una dimora nella campagna viennese. E siamo stati a Parigi, al
palazzo Hôtel de la Rochefoucauld-Doudeauville, dove ha sede
l’Ambasciata d’Italia. E poi, sempre a Parigi, a Casa Italia, per i
Giochi olimpici 2024.
Il Magazine è un’avventura dentro temi e riflessioni che abbiamo
il piacere di condividere con voi.
Con la poesia Ti auguro tempo, Elli Michler ci ha invitato a
riflettere sul valore del tempo e su come ognuno di noi può
pensare o ripensare la propria vita.
