A Monologue by Silvana Annicchiarico
Essere sul palcoscenico del Teatro alla Scala è un’emozione unica.
Non solo per l’aura del luogo,
ma per ciò che questa postazione comporta:
un’inversione dello sguardo.
Chi parla guarda la platea, e non il contrario.
È un ribaltamento simbolico che invita a osservare il mondo da un’altra
prospettiva.
Edra ha sempre saputo farlo.
Fin dalla sua nascita, nel 1987,
ha scelto uno sguardo laterale, originale, inconfondibile,
lontano dalla frenesia del nuovo a tutti i costi.
Non la corsa ossessiva alla prossima tendenza,
non la bulimia del sorprendente,
ma una visione che dà valore alla durata.
Viviamo in un tempo che consuma tutto con rapidità.
In un tempo che divora il nuovo
senza dargli il tempo di diventare storia e memoria.
Ma Edra ha scelto un’altra strada.
Per usare un’espressione di Massimo Recalcati,
ha scelto di credere nella bellezza della durata.
Perché il tempo, quando è ben speso,
non allontana dall’inizio, ma lo rinnova.
E così, quest’anno, Edra compie una scelta coraggiosa e profonda:
non presenta nuovi modelli.
Non perché manchino le idee, ma perché le idee migliori
meritano di essere coltivate. Affinate.
Rese ancora più straordinarie.
Edra non rincorre la novità:
la perfeziona, la sublima, la rende duratura.
I divani Edra non sono solo oggetti,
sono organismi viventi.
Vivono, si trasformano, si adattano al corpo e ai desideri di chi li abita.
Sono architetture flessibili, strutture in movimento, paesaggi
domestici.
Ogni divano è un archetipo.
Standard, che si adatta alle persone e agli ambienti.
Flap, che cambia aspetto.
On the Rocks, che si trasforma in geometrie sempre nuove.
Pack, che accoglie con un linguaggio affettivo e transizionale.
Grande Soffice, che ci ricorda il valore del tempo ritagliato per sé.
Ma in Edra la forma è solo una parte del racconto.
C’è la pelle, che non è un semplice rivestimento,
ma un elemento vivo, inseparabile dall’anima dell’oggetto.
Il progetto “Materie”, con tessuti ispirati ai minerali
e alle pietre preziose, ne è la prova:
To be on stage at the Teatro alla Scala is a unique emotion.
Not only for the aura of the place,
but for the implication of this position:
an inverted gaze.
Those who speak look to the audience, not the other way round.
This symbolic reversal invites us to observe the world from another
point of view.
Edra has always known how to do this.
Since its birth in 1987,
it has chosen a lateral gaze, original and unmistakable,
far from the frenzy of what is new at all costs.
Not for Edra the obsessive race to the next trend,
the bulimia of things that surprise
but a vision giving value to the enduring.
We live in a time that consumes all things rapidly.
A time that devours the new
without giving it time to become history and memory.
Edra has chosen another path.
To borrow an expression from Massimo Recalcati,
Edra has chosen to believe in the beauty of duration.
Because time, when it is well spent,
does not distance us from beginnings but renews them.
So this year Edra has made the profound and courageous choice
not to present new models.
Not because of a lack of ideas but because the best ideas
deserve to be cultivated. To be refined.
To be made even more extraordinary.
Edra does not chase novelty
it perfects the new, sublimates it and makes it endure.
Edra sofas are not simply objects
but living organisms.
They are alive, they transform, they adapt to the bodies and desires of
those who inhabit them.
They are flexible architectures, moving structures, domestic landscapes.
Each sofa is an archetype.
Standard, with its adaptation to people and spaces.
Flap, with its changing appearance.
On the Rocks, with its transformational ever-changing geometries.
Pack, with its welcoming and affective transitional language.
Grande Sofficie, reminding us of the value of time we set aside for
ourselves.
However in Edra form is only part of the story.
There is a skin too, not a simple covering,
but a living element, inseparable from the object’s soul.
