Ornella Vanoni
Alla fi ne degli anni ’50 esordisce al Piccolo Teatro di Milano come attrice. Giorgio Strehler inventa, poi, per lei le canzoni della Mala. Dagli anni ’60 incontra il
cantautorato genovese collaborando con Fabrizio De André, Luigi Tenco, Paolo Conte e Gino Paoli. È interprete di fi lm, commedie musicali, TV e partecipa a
numerosi Festival di Sanremo. Lavora con artisti internazionali come Vinícius de Moraes e Toquinho e i più grandi jazzisti americani tra cui Herbie Hancock e
George Benson. È raffi nata interprete di brani quali “L’appuntamento”, “Eternità”, “La voglia la pazzia l’incoscienza l’allegria”, “Senza fi ne”, “Domani è un altro
giorno” e molti altri successi. Vince tre Premi Tenco.
At the end of the 1950s Ornella Vanoni made her debut at the Piccolo Teatro in Milan as an actress. Giorgio Strehler then invented the Mala songs for her.
In the 1960s she encountered the school of Genoese singer-songwriting, collaborating with Fabrizio De André, Luigi Tenco, Paolo Conte and Gino Paoli.
She has acted in fi lms, musical comedies, TV and participated in several Sanremo Festivals. She has worked with international artists such as Vinícius de
Moraes and Toquinho and the greatest American jazz musicians including Herbie Hancock and George Benson. She is a refi ned interpreter of songs such as
“L’appuntamento”, “Eternità”, “La voglia la pazzia l’incoscienza l’allegria”, “Senza fi ne”, “Domani è un altro giorno” and many other hits. She has been awarded
the Tenco Prize three times.

Una volta ho fatto una cosa importante. C’era la Mostra Internazionale
di Musica leggera a Venezia e mi iscrissi per la Gondola d’Oro. Sono
andata sola col piano e ho cantato Mi sono innamorata di te di Tenco.
Così ho rotto gli schemi dei testi femminili, perché non era possibile
pensare che una donna non avesse niente da fare e che di notte uscisse
per cercare la persona che amava.
palcoscenico
Lo adoro. Mi piace molto. Io posso essere stanca morta, ma se
vado sul palco c’è l’adrenalina e si parte.

Stavo sfogliando un giornale e sono rimasta folgorata dalla
poltrona Margherita. Mi sembrava fatta di luce e l’ho voluta per
arricchire la scenografi a del tour Le donne e la musica. Prima era
vuota. Margherita ha veramente “fatto scena”.
Bellezza
È dappertutto, nella natura, in un bel vestito, in un quadro… nella
voce di una persona. È pieno di bellezza, basta saperla vedere.
sogni
Mi piacerebbe molto cantare con Sting. Ma pure sto fatto di
pensarci…se capita bene.

I did something important once. Venice was holding the International
Exhibition of Light Music and I signed up for the Golden Gondola.
I went solo with a piano and sang Tenco’s Mi sono innamorata di
te (I fell in love with you). I was breaking the mould of female lyrics
because it still wasn’t possible to think a woman might have nothing
else to do and could go out at night looking for the person she loved.
the stage
I love the stage. I really do like it. I can be dead tired, but if I go on
stage the adrenaline fl ows and off we go.
edra
I was leafi ng through a newspaper and the Margherita armchair
was a strike of lightning. It looked to me as if it were made of light
and I wanted it, I wanted to add some richness to the stage set for
the Women and Music tour. The stage felt empty before that. The
Margherita chair really “made a scene”.
Beauty
Beauty is everywhere, in nature, in a beautiful dress, in a painting…
in a person’s voice. Everything is full of beauty, you just need to
know how to see it.
dreaMs
I would love to sing with Sting. But even the fact of thinking about
it... well anyway, if it happens good.
