A distanza di tanti anni, dopo aver conosciuto Monica e Valerio,
ho scoperto che abbiamo avuto un’intesa comune e immediata che
non abbiamo quasi mai espresso con molte parole.
Nessuno fino al 1990 credette alla Flowers Collection. Grazie
al destino incontrai Valerio e Monica che decisero di realizzare
immediatamente Getsuen e Rose Chair che negli anni sono
diventati dei veri grandi classici.
Ogni volta che ho incontrato i Mazzei, è stato come avere davanti
delle figure uscite dai dipinti, con i loro volti antichi, il loro
portamento, i loro ritmi, che non avevo mai visto altrove.
La storia dei Mazzei e di Edra è come una storia del Rinascimento.
Una storia fatta di seducenti protagonisti dalle grandi ali, da
anaconde, da orsi bianchi, da grotte brillanti, da sorgenti d’acqua
e da tante donne dal nome italiano. Mi piace pensare che i miei
Fiori fanno parte di questa scenografia.
Penso che nella storia di Edra l’autore è solo un piccolo ruolo in
mezzo a tutto il teatro.
Il sipario viene aperto grazie a chi ha realizzato quel progetto, gli
ha dato voce, lo ha fatto conoscere, per farlo apprezzare e vivere
con piacere da tante persone nel mondo.

After many years, having met Monica and Valerio, I discovered
that we had an immediate and shared understanding almost
never expressed in so many words.
Before 1990 no one believed in my Flowers Collection. It was my
destiny to meet Valerio and Monica, who chose immediately to
create the Getsuen and the Rose Chair, and these, over the years,
have become truly great classics.
Every time I met the Mazzeis, was like standing before figures who
stepped from a painting, their faces from antiquity, their bearing,
their rhythms, that I have never seen elsewhere.
The story of the Mazzei and Edra is like a story from the
Renaissance. A story of seductive wide-winged protagonists,
anacondas, and white bears, of glittering grottos and water
springs - and many women with Italian names. I like to think that
my Flowers are part of this scenic backdrop.
I believe that in the story of Edra, to be an author is only a small
role in the midst of the entire theatre.
The theatre curtain opens thanks to all of those who realise the
project, give it a voice, and make it known, so that many people in
the world may experience it and appreciate it with pleasure.
