A vast range of materials and finishes have been selected and created by skilled craftsmen and experts.
WOOD
Various types of natural materials such as wood are presented – both plain and stained – from the most flexible species suitable for
bending to more resistant wood types which are perfect for outdoor use.
Chestnut is a fine, lightweight and resistant wood beautified by many knots and veins. It is also moisture-resistant and highly resistant
to fungi, insects and fire.
Ash is very flexible and easy to process, making it particularly suitable for bending. It tends to be light-coloured, ranging from blonde
to light brown, and featuring thin, regular and very delicate veins.
Walnut is a very fine wood type, one of the best in terms of quality, processing ease and resistance. Its strength lies in its deep brown
colour featuring elegant, dark veins.
Oak is a very hard, tough wood featuring beautiful veins which stand out to create a very pleasant aesthetic attraction. Oak is very
durable and resistant to aging, humidity, fungi and mould; it is also exceptionally tough and resistant to impact.
Iroko is called “fatwood” for its water and moisture resistance. These characteristics make it suitable for making outdoor furniture. Its
colours feature golden shades ranging from ochre to brown, all of which tend to darken over time.
Cane fibres are natural and derive from processing the outermost layer of rattan stems. Featuring excellent flexibility and good
strength, they are suitable for all types of cane coverings.
Wood lacquer is a type of coating for wood which is applied to the surface of furniture using coloured polyester and/or polyurethane
paint.
Heat-treated woods present colour variations on surface to guarantee the natural characteristics of wood.
MARBLE
Marble is one of the most precious types of natural stone and is used to make designer pieces and occasional furniture. It features uni-
que, natural characteristics such as versatility, durability and the ability to lend a touch of glamour, refinement and naturalness thanks
to its authentically beautiful veins. Irregular colours, streaks and even imperfections are part of the uniqueness of each marble slab.
Polished marble top could present some matter sections by the veins, due to the different material porosity.
STIFF LEATHER
The corrected-grain leather used by us is 2.3/2.5 mm thick and features vegetable tanning. This fine tanning process makes for
strong, compact and very durable leather, preserving its typical, natural colour and its characteristic scent.
The leather piping is 5 mm thick, very resistant to traction, it is available in natural or dark brown, variations in shade are characte-
ristics due to the naturalness of the leather.
GLASS
Glass is an ancient material resulting from melting various natural elements. Thanks to its transparency and brilliance, it enriches
spaces while lending visual lightness to them.
Its hardness and ductility make its use in furniture and occasional furniture widespread as it can be employed to create functional,
tough and particularly beautiful objects that add light to any space.
Its apparent fragility hides a very resistant material that is aesthetically perfect as well as being hygienic and recyclable.
Tempered glass has been put through a “tempering” process which makes it much tougher and more elastic. Thermoformed glass is
obtained by melting and then moulding glass to obtain the desired shape.
METAL
Metal is used for its durability and cleaning ease as well as for its aesthetic features. Metal should be subjected to specific rust-
proofing treatments such as nickel plating, chroming or coating.
Steel
Steel consists in an iron and carbon alloy; mild steel is also called iron. Stainless steel refers to an iron, nickel and chrome alloy. This
is more difficult to process but – contrary to normal steel – it does not need to be treated in specific ways.
Aluminium
This material cannot be found in nature “as is” but is always found in an oxide form. It is mouldable, ductile and conducts electricity
and heat. It can be finished in various ways and it features a silver-grey colour.
Metals are coated, both to protect them and for aesthetic reasons. It is possible to finish metals in various colours with gloss or satin
effects to give the product the right appearance for a specific style.
CORD
The cords, made of woven Flame Retardant ( FR ) Polyester, do not contain harmful substances, they’re bacteriostatic, resistant to sun
radiations, suitable for outdoor use.
ECOLOGICAL MORTAR
Ecological mortar is an eco-sustainable alternative to mortar, offering an innovative solution for thin coatings. By using recycled san-
ds and reducing quarry extraction, it actively contributes to protecting the environment. The lime, terracotta and clay brown colours
are rich in natural colour nuances. Its material texture is smooth to the touch, abrasion-resistant and water-repellent. The surfaces are
designed to last over time and be easily cleaned. This finish is suitable for both indoor and outdoor uses.
Sample colour shades of materials and finishes are purely indicative because they can vary from batch to batch. Désirée is therefore
relieved from any responsibility for slight differences in colour. These differences may be more apparent if orders are added to over
time.
