Screenprinting or silkscreening was
originally developed in ancient Japan as
a printing technique on silk.
The technique was improved over the
centuries, and also contemporary artists
like Andy Warhol used it.
Deknudt Mirrors has perfected this
technique for applications on mirrors.
It allows us to create the most beautiful
artistic patterns and detailed images in
any style you might think of.
For companies and contract business
we use it to reproduce logos, brand
names, slogans and texts.
Partial silvering is a clever application
of screen printing in the very first phase
of the creation of a mirror. Instead of
printing an ink motive on the glass
surface, we use the technique in a
more sophisticated way when putting
the silver layer on the glass plate.
It has a higher precision than traditional
sandblasting. The result is a stunning
semi-transparant mirror interacting with
the wall behind it. Deceptive trompe
l’oeil effects make you wonder where
the lines lie between mirror and wall.
