The Spilia mirror is a poetic translation of Plato’s Allegory of the Cave.
Luca Beel and Adriaan Tas wish to point out that the reflection in a mirror,
despite its close resemblance to the original, is only a projection of reality.
They want to invite the viewer to - metaphorically - step out of the cave and
look into the world.
