bleiben, sodass eine Skulptur entstehen kann,
die einzigartig ist, aber auch morgen noch
Freude bereitet. Heute, fast 60 Jahre später,
nennt man dies, was wir seit unserer Gründung
verinnerlicht haben, nachhaltig. Darum ist für
uns Nachhaltigkeit mehr als ein Wort. Es ist un-
ser Versprechen, dass wir sowohl von uns als
auch unseren Lieferanten die höchsten hand-
werklichen Standards verlangen, konti nuierlich
überprüfen und bereits im Entstehungsprozess
unserer Polstermöbel an die kommenden Ge-
nerationen denken.
Mit Nachhaltigkeit ist das Bewusstsein ver-
knüpft, dass auch Alternativen zum herkömmli-
chen Leder Einzug halten. Eines eint uns in der
heutigen Zeit alle: der gleiche hohe Anspruch
an Qualität, an Tierwohl, an einen bewussten
Umgang mit unserer Umwelt und damit an
Nachhaltigkeit. Am Ende eines langen Herstel-
lungsprozesses steht ein handgefertigtes Uni-
kat, das mit Fug und Recht Skulptur genannt
werden darf.

dards of craftsmanship from both ourselves
and our suppliers, continuously review these
standards, while all the time thinking about
future generations during the creation
of our upholstered furniture.
Sustainability is linked to the awareness that
alternatives to conventional leather are also
gaining in popularity. One thing unites us all to-
day: the same high standards of quality, of ani-
mal welfare, for a conscious approach to our
environment and hence sustainability. At the
end of a long manufacturing process stands a
handmade unique piece that can
rightly be called a sculpture.

Die Geschichte beginnt 1962 in einem kleinen
Schweizer Dorf nahe am Rhein: In Klingnau ent-
scheidet sich der visionäre Sattlermeister Ernst
Lüthy, fortan ausschliesslich massgeschneiderte
Ledermöbel von bester Qualität herzustellen –
gefertigt in reiner Handarbeit.
Nur drei Jahre später, 1965, beschliesst Lüthy
den nächsten grossen Schritt: Der erfolgrei-
che Familienbetrieb wird in eine Aktiengesell-
schaft umgewandelt; die Geburtsstunde von de
Sede. Das Unternehmen entwickelt sich rasant:
Spitzendesigner von internationalem Format
werden zur Kreation der Sitzmöbel beigezogen,
weitere Produktionsstätten eröffnet und ein
internationales Vertriebsnetz aufgebaut.
Raffinierte Entwürfe, gekonnt umgesetzt mit
traditionellem und präzisem Schweizer Hand-
werk, bringen der Marke rasch Weltruf ein. Ob
in den Villen der Stars, in Blockbuster-Filmen
wie «Bond» oder «Logan’s Run», «Men in Black»
sowie «Die Tribute von Panem» oder als Innen-
einrichtung in den angesagtesten Clubs rund
um den Erdball: Die Skulpturen von de Sede
berühren die Sinne der Menschen und zaubern
ihnen ein Lächeln aufs Gesicht. Weil Gestern
auch morgen noch Freude macht.
The story begins in 1962 in a small Swiss village
near the Rhine: in Klingnau, visionary master
saddler Ernst Lüthy decides to manufacture
exclusively tailor-made leather furniture of the
best quality – made entirely by hand.
Just three years later, in 1965, Lüthy decides
to take the next big step: the successful family
business is converted into a joint-stock compa-
ny, marking the birth of de Sede. The company
grows rapidly: top international designers are
brought in to create seating furniture, further
production facilities are opened and an interna-
tional sales network is established.
Sophisticated designs, skillfully executed with
traditional and precise Swiss craftsmanship, soon
earn the brand a worldwide reputation. Whether
in the villas of the stars, in blockbuster films such
as “Bond” or “Logan’s Run”, “Men in Black” or
“The Hunger Games”, or as furnishings in the
world’s hottest clubs: sculptures by de Sede touch
people’s senses and put a smile on their faces.
